At a point between Bourgas and Varna, which offers the resort excellent links to the main two airports on Bulgaria's Black Sea coast, Obzor with its superb six-kilometre long sandy beach (the largest and best between Golden Sands and Sunny Beach), is a very pleasant, peaceful seaside resort and is un-crowded even during the peak season. The resort is particularly nice for families with its very clean, safe sandy beach.

The resort of Obzor boasts an excellent range of very reasonable restaurants and bars and is surrounded by woods and vineyards supporting a thriving local wine industry. The town also has a open air theatre, cinema and a disco for the more energetic.

Obzor offers tennis facilities, horse riding and a full range of water sports at very reasonable prices.

The origins of the town, which the ancient Greeks knew as Heliopolis ("town of the sun"), can be seen in the small local park which is lined with columns and fragments from a Roman temple to Jupiter which once graced the spot.
