Altinkum - Golden Beach

Our Villas and Apartments in Altinkum

The resort of Altinkum has been welcoming British visitors for many years. The long ''golden beach' with its clear blue waters of the southern Aegean, gives the resort its name. Its three bays along the coast line have every thing both children and adults need for a superb beach holiday.

First Beach sits directly in front of the town and has access to most cafes and bars as well as a good range of water sports. Second Beach is a little less developed, and for the most relaxed atmosphere (just a couple of cafes and lots of free sand), head to Third Beach where there is also the best snorkelling.

Each night, the promenade comes alive with friendly local Turkish families strolling up and down to the sounds of live Turkish music. As many British visitors who are drawn back year after year will happily confirm, the locals are warm and welcoming, encouraging visitors to enjoy the exotic delights of a place where east meets west.

From the harbour and pier you can try your luck at fishing which is very good fun and the locals offer lots of good advice,or you can take a wonderful boat trip round the coast to some truely great beaches and try snorkeling to see some of the many bright colours of the hundreds of types of fish,or take a boat trip to Bodrum to visit the Bodrum castle or sample the great delights of turkish shopping particulalry at the regular saturday market.

Altinkum has its own very good water park just on the edge of the resort which is very popular with English tourists. There is also another water park in Kusadasi only 50 mins drive from Altinkum - it is Europe's largest water park. There are day trips from Altinkum every day during the summer. This water park has 25 acres of splashing fun with more than 20 fantastic rides and attractions for all the family to enjoy, including the fastest waterslides for thrill seekers. There are plenty of sun loungers and bathing areas for the avid sun seeker. The park caters for all ages, you can relax and float in the lazy river.

The whole area is steeped in ancient history, with the famous ruined temple of Apollo only a few minutes drive away in Didim. Perhaps the most impressive single Temple of Apollo, Didimmonument on the western Aegean coast, this temple was the third largest structure of the Greek world when it was built. The Roman city of Ephesus, to which there are daily coach tours, was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and is regarded as the best preserved ancient city in Asia Minor and is only 1 1/2 hours away from Altinkum.
