Holidays to Bulgaria? Choose Bulgaria's premier visitor destination
The ancient Greeks called the Black Sea, the 'hospitable sea'. Clean and calm, without any tides and with a sandy sea bottom sloping gently away making swimming safe for even the youngest visitor, the Black Sea Coast is rightly Bulgaria's premier visitor destination.
Bulgaria's Black Sea Coast offers 378 km of wide golden beaches, plus cliffs, lakes and dunes - perfect for holidays in Bulgaria. It easily competes with the Med on water temperature with the temperature of the water between June and September an average 19C and 23C, with it rising sometimes to nearly 25C in August! - it is also half as saline as the Mediterranean. Bulgaria Sunny Beach Weather
In the far north the mountain range which spans the whole of the country meets the sea forming dramatic cliffs with superb sandy bays. The rocky cliffs give way to the beautiful long beaches of resorts such as Albena and Golden Sands, which themselves are surrounded by forested nature reserves.
The far eastern parts of the Balkan Range touch the sea just north of Sunny Beach at Cape Emona, Bulgaria's 'Lands End'. The coast continues south with long, fine beaches, including the Black Sea's premier resort Sunny Beach and the developing upmarket resort of Sveti Vlas. Just south of these resorts you also have numerous lakes and natural wetlands which makes Bulgaria one of Europe's top destinations for bird watching.
Travelling further south beyond Sozopol to the Turkish border offers a succession of glorious white sand beaches and a wide variety of amazing flora and fauna, ranging from the near tropical forest around the River Ropotamo and the Valeka River to marshes again rich in bird life.
